Dr. Mark Fontes, Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Mark Fontes BSc, ND graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours). During that time, Dr. Fontes’ ND interests and endeavours motivated him to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine. He then began his studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto.
With a clinical focus in supportive cancer care over the last 12 years, Dr. Fontes ND works in midtown Toronto where he strives to support patients in all aspects of their care. He has advanced his knowledge in supportive cancer care and has received the Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology designation (based on the standard for the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology which is the certification branch of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians).
He is a strong proponent of the integrative quality of naturopathic medicine in cancer care and has presented on a variety of topics including : Naturopathic Medicine:  an evidence based approach at the University of Toronto Medical School, and Pediatric Cancer Care:  Supportive Naturopathic Care and Case Reports at CCNM and at Sick Kids Hospital.  He has also been published several times in newspapers, journals, and magazines.
Dr. Fontes ND incorporates the highest quality evidence available in naturopathic cancer care into his treatment plan for patients.  The goals of supportive naturopathic cancer care are to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy safely and effectively, and improve quality of life for patients living with cancer.  He communicates and works with his patients’ medical doctors, oncologists and other healthcare providers in order to ensure collaborative and patient-centered care.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Fontes ND currently sits as Chair of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and is part-time clinic faculty at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Fontes ND is licensed to practice in Ontario under the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. He is additionally certified in intravenous nutrient therapy and has completed extra training in this area.  He is an active member of the:
